Dr Lucinda Homer
My Mission & Approach
Change means many different things to all of us. I am in my 50s and know just what it feels like when life changes. I know what feeling stuck is like and how hard it is to find the courage to do anything about it.
My mission is: “to refuse to sit and watch another brilliant, successful woman reach her 40s and 50s and get stuck.”
I want to invite you to be part of a positive change movement that enables women to be confident to take up more space and create an amazing second act in their lives.
My approach is to help you to gain clarity and define your one BIG thing.
The next stage is to work on making your rules, so that you can test out strategies and discover what works for you.
We bring everything together so that you can make the change you need to live your life on your terms.
This will help you to find positive ways to gain perspective, take action, and cope with whatever comes your way. I will work collaboratively with you and support you where you think you need it most. Be prepared to do some rewarding work and I will challenge you, when I think you can go even further.
I will keep you on the right track and help you to future proof your plans.
How I can Help You?
Knowledge is power.
The best decisions are made when you can weigh up all the risks and benefits. It may still be scary to make a move but you will learn how to manage fear, find your courage and go for it.
Thoughts, Feelings & Actions are all linked.
Learning about this was a lightbulb moment for me. Your critical inner voice can be a major factor in holding you back. You can learn how to use your mindset to your advantage.
Change can have a big impact on your confidence. It is common in peri-menopause and menopause to experience anxiety and a dip in confidence and self-esteem. If you have been left wondering why things that did not bother you before now do. It may be worthwhile considering a check up with your doctor.
The coaching process will help you to regain confidence and get back your spark.
If you have found yourself at the bottom of the list of priorities, it is time to get some balance back into your life.
Now is the time to discover how new rules will set you free.
Change is inevitable. Some changes are unwelcome and some are exciting opportunities.
You can learn how to accept the change, grieve for the past and get excited for the future.
Personal & Professional Development
More than ever women in their 40s and 50s are changing their approach to their career and personal development. Loss of autonomy and lack of control are stressful and make working in a system difficult. Taking back control in one part of your life can have a positive impact on other areas too.
Even a small change can make a huge difference to how you feel about things.
I’ve Been Helping Create Positive Changes In People's Lives For My Whole Career
I have had a long and varied career to date. I am passionate about helping others and this is reflected in my career choices and life long interest in education.
I qualified as a doctor 30 years ago, and worked in the NHS for 24 years, with 14 years as Consultant Anaesthetist.
I experienced a “Mid-career” crisis in 2016, which in hindsight was due to burn out, so I decided to make some major changes. I changed my career and re-discovered me. You can read more about that is this blog post.
Now I enjoy a portfolio career as a coach and as a doctor in the speciality of Aviation Medicine.
Throughout my career:
- I coached and mentored trainee doctors and Consultant Colleagues, throughout my consultant career in the NHS.
- I coached myself through a positive career change and left the NHS in 2016.
- I enjoy a portfolio career as a Coach for midlife women and I work as a doctor in the specialty of Aviation Medicine.
- I trained as a pilot in 2011 and gained a private pilot’s licence. That experience opened the door to aviation medicine and the possibility of career change.
- I set up and manage two businesses Medflight Services Ltd, providing aviation medicals and VGR Coaching Ltd.
- I had a very brief career in politics when I stood as an MEP candidate (West Midlands), for Change UK, in the Euro elections in 2019.
